Software and downloads
We build desktop software for running servers and helping people remotely. Everything you put into the apps stays on your own machines: the apps themselves need no account and no third-party cloud. You only need a free account on developers.kultivat.cloud to download them.
Kultivat Remote — in development, Linux first
For people who look after servers and other people's computers. SSH terminals, file transfer, tunnels, Docker and Compose, saved commands, remote desktop and remote support in one window.
- No account, no cloud. Data is stored on your computer, encrypted with a master password.
- One backup file moves your whole setup to another computer.
- Production servers get a red bar and typed confirmations before anything risky.
- Runs from a USB stick without installing.
Kultivat Assist — in development, Linux first
A small app for the person who needs help. It shows a short ID and a one-time code; the helper connects, and you decide — Allow or Decline — every time.
- A bar at the top of the screen shows for as long as someone is connected.
- One click ends the session at any moment.
- View-only mode, file transfer and chat, all with your consent.
Relay — runs on your own server
The small introducer service that lets the two apps find each other through firewalls. You run it on your own server, so no third party sits in the middle. It is installed from inside Kultivat Remote with one button. Sessions are encrypted end to end — the relay never sees the screen.
Server agent — optional
A tiny helper (under 1 MB) you can install on a server to make the overview faster. It listens on no port, and everything works without it.
Downloads
| System | What | State |
|---|---|---|
| Linux | .deb for Ubuntu/Debian, .AppImage for any distribution, portable USB edition |
coming first |
| Windows | installer and portable edition | planned |
| macOS | app bundle | planned |
Downloads live on developers.kultivat.cloud/downloads and need a free account:
- Open developers.kultivat.cloud and click Register (or Sign in if you already have an account). Confirm your e-mail address with the link you receive.
- Open Downloads. You see the latest version, its release notes and one button per file.
- Click the file for your system (see Getting started for which one). Next to each file is its SHA-256 checksum, if you want to check the download.
Until the first release is published the page is empty. To be told when it is ready, write to us through the contact form on the website.
Updates
Once installed, Kultivat Remote keeps itself up to date:
- It checks for a new version a couple of minutes after you unlock it, and then every 6 hours. The check only asks "what is the latest version number?" — it sends nothing about you, your servers or your computer, and needs no account.
- It tells you. A New version badge appears at the top of the window. Click it to read what changed.
- One click to update — with a download token. Downloading the update itself needs your account, so the app uses a download token instead of your password:
- On developers.kultivat.cloud/downloads, under Update token for the app, create a token and copy it (it is shown only once).
- In Kultivat Remote: Settings → General → Updates, paste it into Download token and save. It is stored encrypted in your vault.
- From now on Update downloads the new version, checks its digital signature, and installs it. The
.AppImagereplaces itself; the.debasks for your computer password (a system window), because it installs system-wide. Then click Restart.
- Without a token the badge's button opens the download page in your browser, and you install the new file the same way as the first time.
The app never updates itself without your click, and never installs a file whose signature does not match — a broken or tampered download is refused. You can revoke a token on the download page at any time (for example if you lose a laptop). Organisations can turn update checks off completely by creating the file /etc/kultivat-remote/disable-updates.
