Connecting to your servers

Terminal

Connect on a server opens a terminal. Open as many tabs to the same server as you like.

Keys Does
Ctrl+Shift+C / Ctrl+Shift+V copy / paste
Ctrl+Shift+F search what was printed
Ctrl+Shift+D split: a second terminal to the right
Ctrl+Shift+E split: a second terminal below
Ctrl+K the search-everything box (see below)

Ctrl+C still stops a running command, as in any terminal. If the connection drops, the app reconnects by itself; if it cannot, press Reconnect.

Search everything: Ctrl+K

Type a few letters of a server, client, note, guide or action. On a server, Enter opens the terminal, Shift+Enter the files, Ctrl+Enter the overview and Alt+Enter its desktop.

Files

Files on a server opens two panels: your computer on the left, the server on the right.

  • Select files and press Upload or Download, or just drag them across. You can also drag files in from your file manager.
  • Whole folders are copied with everything inside.
  • Transfers shows progress. Cancel any time; a big interrupted file continues where it stopped.
  • Edit locally opens a server file in your usual editor. Each time you save, it is sent back. The temporary copy is deleted when you close the tab.

If you get Permission denied, you are logged in as a user who may not change that file. Copy it to your home folder, edit it there and move it back in the terminal with sudo cp.

Tunnels

A tunnel lets your computer reach something that only the server can see, safely, without opening anything to the internet.

On a client page choose Tunnels → New tunnel:

Type Use it when Example
Local you want to reach a database on the server server 127.0.0.1:5432 appears on your computer as localhost:15432
SOCKS5 proxy you want to browse as if you were on the server set your browser's SOCKS proxy to 127.0.0.1:1080
Reverse the server should reach something on your computer your test site on port 5173 appears on the server as port 8080

Tick Start automatically after unlocking if you use a tunnel every day.

Desktop of a server

If a server has a graphical desktop, the Desktop tab shows it inside the app. The app shows the steps if the server has none yet. You can also open Windows machines this way (RDP).
